The Singularity of the Speed of Thought

Page history last edited by Alex Backer, Ph.D. 13 years, 3 months ago

There seems to be another singularity that's happening before the one that's traditionally talked about. That's the singularity that comes when the speed of our ideas dramatically exceeds our ability to act on them, even if just by communicating them. As our world becomes more connected, sources of inspiration multiply, as does the frequency of inspiration. What took Darwin a lifetime to crystallize and publish not happens several times a day for people much less capable than Charles. Taking notes doesn't help when life is so busy we don't have time to ever look at notes. I have tons of notes I've never ever looked back at. The multidimensional panoply of ideas branching out in a multitude of directions is mapped by our unimotor (as in having essentially only one output at a time) brains into a linear mindlife. And thus our biggest decision becomes the choice of what to keep, and what to leave out. What to build on, and what to brush aside. Life is one big editing job.
