Our Choice
Two strangers meet
For the first time
Amidst the noise
To make a choice.
They could decide
To sail away
Like a big shot
In a great yacht.
Memories make
To last a life
A treasure trove
Perhaps of love
A poem a day
He promised her
She could come back
With quite a stack.
He wants to know
If she’s to trust
She wants to know
If he’s her beau.
They could forego
Their bucket list
They could just deem
Who needs a dream?
They could just work
They could go on
With daily life
The usual strife.
When life is done
We won’t regret
The things we’ve done
But those we shun.
When days are gone
We won’t look back
And ask, done for
Did we work more?
No, we will wish
We’d given love
A chance in full
Not just kind of.
And looking back
We’ll wish we’d had
That week, we’ll wish
We could backtrack.
And so today
Let’s take a chance
Let’s choose to dance
Let’s pick romance.
