Demand The Truth

I just received my new Chase Visa Check Card, and called to activate it. After I had entered the card number, the recorded voice on the other end of the line said, "While we are activating your card, ..." and proceeded to offer me an additional service that attempted to tempt me to pay Chase more money. After which it asked me whether I was interested. When I said no (typed 2, to be precise), the voice insisted: "Don't waste this opportunity!" and proceeded to sing more praises of the service, not before telling me that this was "While we are still activating your card". The voice would not confirm that my card had been activated until I had twice rejected the same offer. As you can imagine, Chase does not need you waiting on the other end of the line to activate your card even if it did take them a while to activate it. Not to mention that changing the bit in their system that goes from inactive to activated is done at the speed of light, faster than the annoying voice has time to say "Good bye". You wouldn't want to bank with someone you do not trust. So next time you choose a company to bank with, demand the truth.
