Bush 'open to any idea' for addressing war in Iraq

On Thursday, Bush said, "I'm open to any idea or suggestion that will help us achieve our goals of defeating the terrorists and ensuring that Iraq's democratic government succeeds", reported the International Herald Tribune.

He did say any idea, so here it goes: To ensure Iraq's democratic government succeeds, start by swiftly removing US troops in an orderly fashion --voters tend not to like foreign troops in their soil or regimes perceived as puppets of other governments. To defeat the terrorists (those that remain after their goal of removing US occupation is no longer something to aspire to), provide training and financial support to Iraqi troops, and start a Marshall-like plan to provide financial assistance to regions of Iraq with the least support for terrrorists, with monthly evaluation of which regions will receive aid next month --that will get the people of Iraq, who are possibly the only ones who can change the attitudes that breed terrorism there, to have an incentive not to support them. This plan would cost a fraction of the cost of keeping troops there.

More ideas, anybody?
